Editorial Services

I love telling stories. And I can help you tell yours.

My editorial experience draws from my experience as a creative writer in various genres but also from my academic training in history and my experience as strategic policy analyst in the public sector. I can help you draw out what you are really trying to say, while staying true to your lived experiences and view of the world.

I have sat on the editorial boards of In/Words Magazine and Press, the Hart House Review, Between the Lines Press, and most recently, as guest fiction editor of Rowayat Journal. I bring extensive experience evaluating manuscripts and working hand-in-hand with authors to my work with you as an editor/mentor. I can help you edit your short stories, speeches, personal essays, academic papers, and grant applications. I love revision in my own writing and will bring that same energy to your project.

Speaking Engagements

I have spoken at conferences, festivals, university campuses, federal government departments, and community events of various sizes. In 2017, I gave a talk to parliamentarians on the importance of storytelling to mark Islamic Heritage Month.

My talks explore second-generation immigrant experiences, Islamophobia and equity, Muslim women in society, and North African history. I have also appeared on radio and am comfortable speaking to the media.

Moderating/ Interviewing

I love interviewing writers and artists and do not shy away from asking the big questions. I have moderated panels and hosted events, including:

  • Toronto International Festival for Authors

  • Arab Canadian Book Fair

  • Opening reception for Tracing Symmetries exhibition at DesignTO festival

  • Various book launches and events
